Event Manager
Urban Affair NYC is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Event Manager to oversee the planning and execution of off-premise catering events. This role bridges client relationships with internal Sales, Operations, and Culinary teams to ensure every event runs flawlessly, reflects our brand, and exceeds client expectations. From initial planning through final execution, the Event Manager ensures that all elements—from menus to staffing—are organized, communicated, and delivered with excellence.

- Collaborate with co-managers and internal teams to ensure successful daily execution of events
Sales & Client Growth
- Maintain and nurture existing client relationships
- Identify opportunities to grow business from current clients (office events, holidays, upsells)
Operations & Event Production
- Coordinate with Executive Chef and Sous Chefs to ensure menus are finalized and printed to standard
- Ensure menus align with client preferences and dietary needs
- Work with Kitchen Admin to produce accessible, branded menu cards
- Design and oversee appealing, functional buffet setups
- Communicate directly with clients to understand event goals and expectations
- Partner with On-Site Events Team to deliver “one-of-a-kind” experiences
- Coordinate pre-meal tastings and collect relevant feedback
- Work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed to support seamless execution
- Lead hiring, training, and development of captains, servers, and bartenders
- Establish and uphold service standards and hospitality best practices
- Own all client-facing communications tied to production and service
- Oversee internal planning, ensuring timely completion of food, beverage, staffing, and rental orders
- Prepare detailed post-event summaries and debriefs
Essential Functions
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, comprehension)
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
- Comfortable with basic math and calculations for planning
- Strong independent work ethic and collaborative spirit
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and perform physical event support duties
- Physically able to bend, stand, and walk for 8–10 hours per day
- Highly organized and responsive to fast-changing event demands
- Leads and inspires others with clear direction and morale-building energy
- Available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in event or account management, preferably in catering
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant certification in hospitality or related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and other production systems
- Deep understanding of catering logistics and service operations
- Working knowledge of all roles in event execution: bussing, service, expediting, bartending, etc.
- Knowledge of food and beverage, including beer, wine, and spirits
