Urban Affair NYC is seeking a reliable, hardworking Porter to support the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen and facility. This essential role ensures that our workspace operates at the highest standards of sanitation, safety, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is organized, team-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Key Operations Responsibilities

• Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment and work areas in accordance with in-house, local, state, and federal regulations
• Stock workstation with proper levels of par items and supplies
• Clean food service carts, walk-in coolers, freezers, the Chef’s office, and employee restrooms
• Sanitize warewashing equipment and maintain kitchen cleanliness to company standards
• Keep the sales office neat and organized
• Wash pots, pans, and equipment by hand as needed
• Safely operate dishwashers, sanitizers, lifts, grease traps, and related machinery
• Clean and maintain dish machine parts (jets, arms, filters)
• Assist with daily cleaning tasks and support deep cleaning schedules
• Remove and sort garbage and recycling; maintain a clutter-free kitchen
• Organize and store service equipment, silverware, and smallwares efficiently
• Report hazardous conditions or broken equipment to the Operations Director

Essential Functions

• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
• Prior experience in warehouse systems preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Collaborative and reliable team player
• Clear communicator with ability to follow directions
• Spanish proficiency is a plus
• High school diploma or GED required
• Physically capable of lifting 30 pounds regularly
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and walk for extended periods (8–10 hours)
• Comfortable using a variety of kitchen tools and cleaning equipment
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and a flexible schedule
• Positive, adaptable, and motivated in high-volume settings

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a Porter role, preferably in catering or food service
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
