Party Chef Needed

Urban Affair NYC is hiring a skilled and motivated Party Chef to join our culinary team. This position is essential to the execution of high-quality, off-premise events and requires strong culinary technique, leadership, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate is team-focused, reliable, and thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all kitchen standard operating procedures for production, food safety, and sanitation
• Maintain a clean and well-organized workstation at all times
• Collaborate effectively with coworkers and lead by example
• Maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude in all interactions
• Work proactively to plan and meet production deadlines
• Meet all New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) food code standards
• Comply with company uniform, grooming, and hygiene policies
• Attend scheduled trainings and team meetings as required
• Follow and execute all recipes and event-specific prep procedures
• Demonstrate expert knife skills and proper use of equipment such as strainer, blender, Vitamix, KitchenAid, Robot Coupe, Hobart, and more

Essential Functions

• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension)
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
• Basic math skills for measurements, scaling, and portioning
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Physically able to lift 30 pounds regularly
• Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and moving for 8–10 hour shifts
• Proficient in the use of standard kitchen tools and equipment
• Highly organized with a methodical approach to task management
• Open to giving and receiving feedback and direction
• Positive, motivating presence for peers and junior team members
• Adaptable to high-pressure, fast-paced event timelines
• Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and flexible/extended hours

Experience & Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a professional kitchen or culinary event setting
• High school diploma or GED required
• Familiarity with production systems and collaborative team workflows
